Viva Master Degree in the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics about the databases

In the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Kufa a viva of master’s student, Rasul Kazem Shagal took place for her thesis (Towards improving the performance of direct analytical systems using the technique of reducing cubes of multi-dimensional). The researcher explained her proposed method to improve the performance of different prospecting algorithms using the concepts of data reduction. The student accumulated the data from different schools in Najaf city. Then, she transformed the data into tables addressed to different topics, and then apply the concepts of data reduction (relational concepts, reducing properties and others), and she built a data warehouse (galactic model) to represent data, which represents the optimal model of the design. The data cube is also constructed which represents its dimensions. Then she analyzed these data and the results of the algorithms and compared them with the original data and the data generated from the proposed system. The results obtained from the proposed method showed a good improvement in both accuracy and time complexity. The researcher used various programs to implement the proposed method, such as Weka, Excel, XLSTAT, SQL server and C++.
