Scientific symposium on the identification and treatment of childhood autism spectrum conditions

The University of Kufa’s Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics hosted a scientific symposium on the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorder in youngsters. Assistant Professor Dr. Dhafer Al-Moussawi, a professor of mental health and behavioral treatment for autistic children, spoke at the symposium and covered the genetic, biological, and environmental causes and factors that contribute to the emergence of the autism spectrum. The speaker underlined that one of the trickiest and most complicated issues is identifying autism and in order to assist youngsters on the autism spectrum and help them integrate into society, he described several international initiatives and early intervention techniques. The speaker came to the conclusion that social functioning, verbal and nonverbal communication abilities, social engagement, and a sense of connectedness with the outside world are all impacted by autism. The symposium yielded several significant recommendations, including the creation of a database detailing the prevalence of autism spectrum disorders, the need to increase social awareness in society through specialized scientific workshops, and the creation of family-education programs.
